    Dear folks,

I need some help in purchasing a salamander, which is a flat iron disk on a long rod (sometimes with a counter-weight at the other end), and sometimes has a second disc-base for a stand. The purpose of this flat disc is to brown puddings, custards, or toppings on cakes. If you think creme brulee is something new, it's not. At any rate, I need one quick, so I'd much appreciate it if someone could guide me to where I might buy one, or a craftsman who could make me one. Any suggestions?
    Mfr,
    Judith Peebles.

You should be able to have a blacksmith make one or buy the modern one at

I would make one out of tin but it would not hold the heat.
