Hello fellow Civil War Enthusiast,
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what is being planned for the 2009 Midwest Civil War Civilian Conference. Hosted this year in SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS.
All day Friday & Saturday at the Old State Capitol you can view Dawn to Dusk: Antebellum Fashions and Artifacts. A display of original Civil War items from the private collections of Ainsley Wonderling and Kay Gnagey. Conference attendees and general public are welcome.
Workshops begin Friday morning, and an informal reception will be at the hotel that evening.
Saturday evening the Old State Capitol has asked us to participate in a fundraiser for their sponsors. First person impressions are welcome and there will be a demonstration of period dancing in addition to Ainsley Wonderling's original period clothing collection exhibit. Period or modern formal dress will be required to attend.
Sunday presentations end at noon, but the fun will continue as the Old State Capitol is hosting a Sunday Tea fund-raiser. Men and women are encouraged to attend.
Springfield, Illinois, is "Lincoln's Hometown" and offers many historic museums and sites within walking distance of the hotel. Come early or stay late to visit all the Lincoln sites available in the area. For a complete listing of sites visit http://www.visit-springfieldillinois.com/.

12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Period Hairstyles: Practical Hands-on Instruction on Transforming a Modern Hair Style For Men and Women. Presented by Sue Pfeiffer, Joseph Reed & Kay Gnagey.

2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Textiles for Historical Reproductions: Learn About Fabric And Weave, And Create A Swatch Book Of Modern Equivalents. Presented by JoMarie Sosznyski. Materials Fee $30.00

OLD STATE CAPITOL

All conference attendees are welcome to participate in hosting this evening program for the Old State Capitol Sponsors. View all the exhibits up close, watch period dancing, portray your first person impressions and enjoy conversation with your new and old acquaintance under candelight of the Old State Capitol rotunda.
