Good Day -
I'm pleased to announce registration is open for the 2009 Ladies & Gentlemen of the 1860s Conference. The Conference offers a full program of topics of interest for ladies and gentlemen. Complete information including registration forms is available on our web site at www.genteelarts.com Conference and class flyers will be mailed within the next two weeks.
This is the fifteenth anniversary of the Conference and we have some special events planned to honor the occasion. We have a great selection of presentations on a variety of topics and some terrific workshops. This year's competition is for the best reproduction of a pair of slippers; there are wonderful displays of original garments (changed daily); and the Marketplace features 15-20 juried vendors. The Angels Project to assist area museums returns for its second year.
You are encouraged to register early, especially if you are interested in any of the workshops. Last year every session was sold out! We offer an 2-part installment payment plan: 50% of the registration fee and any workshop fees with the first payment; balance of the registration fee with the second payment. There are discounted rates for juniors and full-time college students.
Public transportation is available. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the Harrisburg Airport (fifteen minutes). Other airports within a reasonable drive - and with very competitive rates - include Baltimore-Washington International, Washington-Dulles and Washington National. Unfortunately we cannot provide complimentary shuttle service to these airports. Harrisburg is also served by Amtrack and Greyhound; the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to the train and bus stations also.
In addition to the presentations, the registration fee also includes the Conference notebook, Welcome Reception/Birthday Party, admission to the Marketplace, participation in the Angels Project, and all meals and breaks on Saturday and Sunday.
I hope to see old friends and meet new ones next March!
Regards,
