  • Dating a soft bonnet shape

I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on the attached bonnet. The brim is stiffened with horsehair or crinoline. It combines a mix of hand and machine sewing. Can anyone date it to our time period?

    Kind regards,

I'm not a millinery expert, but the lines of this bonnet are plausible for a mid-century date. The curtain lengthens in the back, but it isn't a severly cropped-back brim like some of the later century ones, and the fullness at the back of the neck is low, as would be needed to contain mid-century hair without feeling lumpy.
