  • Silver term help

    Hey folks,

Can anyone shed some light on what albater/alabater (not alabaster) silver may be? Some preliminary searching has just not turned up anything specific.

    Thanks!

    Re: Silver term help

I think the term you are looking for may be ablater.

    ablate
    v. remove by cutting, remove surgically; remove by melting, remove through evaporation

This would imply someone who removed silver from silver items

      Emanuel,

Are you asking in regards to 'silver', plating or silver plated metalware?

            Re: Silver term help

            Hello.

Alpaca is another similar term, used in Spanish, but I believe also in English, for German Silver or "white copper."
No silver, but a proper period metal.
Shows up in period spectacles and watch cases, among other items.
