  • Getting Started

Years ago I put together a pretty good Federal impression and used this forum as much as possible when it first came about. Since that time I have gotten out of CW reenacting. I do have an interest in coming back, but not in a military role. I'd like to put together a civilian impression but I have no idea where to begin. I don't have a specific trade or "role" in mind just yet, but I want to start getting together a modest everyday look.

Since I've been out of the game for a few years, I don't really know who is a good source for authentic civilian attire. So here I am, looking for help from a crowd that likes to things right. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Martin

I've never done business with him personally, but from what I've heard Kiev Thompson (The Traveling Mans Emporium) work is very nice.

        Re: Getting Started

Before this turns into an endorsement party, I recommend reviewing the approved vendors on this forum (you will find a link in the masthead). Many of them sell civilian clothing as well as military stuff.

You may also want to consider watching the sale/buy forum on this site. Some men's civilian clothing gets posted to the military sale/buy forum, as well.

These are good people to know in your region:

Also, you can look for user name AndrewGrim and send him a PM for more information about civilian reenacting in California.

        Good luck!

            Re: Getting Started

Thanks all. I have been checking the vendors sites. I scrub all the used goods boards wherever possible. Being a 40 chest/34 waist usually ends up being too small for previously used sales unfortunately. I'm always looking though! Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
