Buttons for Sack coat

I'm now trying to make a decision about buttons on this med.tan linen sack coat.
I have several varieties of med. to dark brown veg.ivory buttons, but none are the same color tone as the linen.
Can the coat have darker buttons than the fabric? ......I think they look great..just not sure of appropriateness :cry_smile

What about large mother-of-pearl buttons? I had an unlined tan linen coat once and those looked good on them.

The veg.ivory tan one hole buttons I have are exactly like the ones on the coat of Carolanns
