Re: Yarn
Karin, I am doing an impression of a resident of Louisville. Shelby County is right smack between Jefferson (Louisville) and Franklin (Frankfort). So I'm guessing that I would have access to era commercial yarns. Louisville, was a major transportation and industrial center, probably third largest after Cincinnati and Indianapolis (just guessing there), which is probably how all those Germans ended up here. There were some interesting ethnic riots, between Germans and Anglos, that predated the war, that got down right nasty, so that is possibly something I could look into and use in my firper since I would have been living in Louisville by that time. Back to the scarf, if I chose to do the tri color, how would I arrange the different rows?
On a positive note I just located a store that carries wool yarn near my house, so I think I will trot on over and see if they have something cheap to do more practicing with.
