  • Animal Card

    All,

I have previously seen picutures of an original set of cards from our period of research which had engraved drawings of pictures of animals for teaching children. I have been searching the various forums, this forum, past auctions, my original and digital period magazines, and the internt over the past several months but have been unable to locate that previous set of pictures I have seen.

Specifically, I am looking looking for period engravings of chickens (rooster) and hogs (pigs) to complete the deck of cards I have painstakenly recreated since seeing those pictures. The purpose of these cards are for both living history and true educational purposes since we have a one year old daughter who we plan on taking into the hobby next year.

Any sources or leads or pictures you can post here would be greatly appreciated by both my wife and myself...not to mention my daughter years from now as a momento (of our years playing dress-up).

Very respectfully and with advances in appreciation of you time considered,

    Matt,

Use Google Images and enter "rooster engraving" or "pig engraving", it sould supply what you need.

        Alan,

I went through Google Images a few months ago. Although some look really good, I am looking for documented engravings to complete the deck. Since I have not been able to cross-reference and document those images as from the period, I will not be using them. Thanks for the recommendation though.
