I have some vintage Clarks button and carpet thread. Also have some Belding and Corticelli button and carpet, as well as their pure silk twist button hole thread.
I wondered if Coats or others were producing button hole threads in the 1860's?
What with threads should I be using for button holes?
I don't mind waxing lighter weights, but if heavier weight like these were produced and used I'd like to use these heavier threads for my button holes.
As an aside, the deceseased family member that I recieved the thread from also had a treasure trove of notions for me -- buttons of bone, mother of pearl, metal, coin type and China; a variey of thread, needles, and finally, we ended up with her Coats and Clark sales cabinent that was said to have been in a chicken coop for a time that I brought back to life and have in outr living room.
