  • New Civilian Moderator

    Good Evening!

Tonight, we are pleased to announce that Elaine Kessinger will be the new Civilian Moderator for the Authentic Campaigner. Elaine will replace Beth Crabb, who has had a long tenure as a Moderator and Approved Vendor. Thanks to Beth for volunteering her time here.

Without further ado, Elaine will let you know a little about about herself. Welcome Elaine!

A Bit About My Past and My Goals for the Future.

    The Past:

I currently reside in Reston, Virginia. I am on the board of the Atlantic Guard Soldiers' Aid Society, am active with the recreated 28th Massachusetts VI Co. B, I have created and moderate several focus groups on FaceBook, and moderate the civilian section of the Common Ground forum. I have two history related blogs, one on general topics which I often use to archive and post expanded responses to topics on history-related social media and one on historic food and dining.

I am a tailor by trade, focusing on bespoke and made-to-measure menswear for men and boys who share history. My company is Ivy Wolf Design.

I'm originally from Hillsboro, Ohio and always knew I wanted to make clothing for people who shared history, I just had a hard time putting that dream in terms people would understand. The closest the wise mentors could help me find was theatre and I took my degree in theatrical costume. I worked for a time in theatre and explored many of the regions of the US.

When the chance came, I moved first to Maryland and then Virginia to focus exclusively on making my dream a reality.

    The Future:

We all share different parts of the same story. I'd like to continue to make the shared story the focus. I'd like the forum to continue to encourage each person who shares history to do so responsibly, respectfully, and to the highest standards to which they are capable.

    My Mantra Has Always Been:

    How did they do that?

Can I do that in relative safety?
If not, how else might they have met that challenge?
If not, how close can I come?
