I recently picked up another old sewing machine. I found this one on ebay. It is a Johnson Clark Gold Medal machine. The newest patent date on it is 1865 :) I was not sure if it was going to work but we got it home and played with it some and it works like new and does an incredibly small lockstitch. Interestingly ( to me anyway) is that the machine is gear driven with a hand crank instead of being belt driven with a hand crank. When i figure out how to post pictures here I will put some on in comparison of a Willcox & Gibbs chain stitch, the Johnson and Clark and a modern Singer :tounge_sm
