Please note that this event is now over-subscribed. We cannot accept any more RSVPs. There are no walk-ons. Only people on our list already will be allowed into the theatre by Ford's security personnel.
If you wanted to come and missed it -- sorry. If you're interested in furture projects, please contact us at www.HistoricalEntertainment.com as we frequently have opportunities like this come up.

Dear forum colleagues,
If you're within reasonable travelling distance of DC, you might be interested in this.... Please forward to any friends you think might be interested, including non-reenactors (some loaner wardrobe available)
Several of us have talked about how much fun it would be to do an event at Ford's Theatre where we got to get gussied up in our finery and watch "Our American Cousin." Well, now's our chance -- or at least PART of the play until Mr. Booth's famous cue line....
The National Park Service has given permission to a production company to do the first-ever reenactment of the assassination AT Ford's Theatre. All previous re-creations have been shot elsewhere. They will be using a new technology that enables the use of IMAX in a new way and the final product will be shown in the Smithsonian's American Presidents exhibit.
Pay is minimal, alas -- as it's a student film on a low budget. The pay is $25 a day ($35 for anybody further than 50 miles from DC, to help defray gasoline) However, we all get copies of the DVD and our names individually listed in the credits, there will be nice catering (Hard Rock Cafe), free parking, and it will be a lot of fun. A top-class group of actors from The Arena Stage are doing "Our American Cousin" for us.
The downside is that it's at NIGHT on Saturday July 10 (call time is 7:30, rehearsal at 8:30 or 9:00, filming will start about 9:30 or 10:00 p.m.) and will go pretty late. This is a film shoot for the night owls in the crowd. For those from out of town, we're arranging a crash space network so people can get a nap before driving back home.
Here's the RSVP form and more info:
Please note: Because of security at Ford's, this shoot is RSVP only. You MUST be on the RSVP list to get into the theatre
Ladies: Evening wear is preferred but if you dont have a ball dress or fancy silk, a nice daydress would be fine. It was cold in the theatre and a lot of people, Mrs. Lincoln included, had their outerwear on, so if you can't go formal, bring outerwear.... (and they'll keep the A/C on for you, so you don't roast!) Mrs. Lincoln apparently kept her bonnet on, so a sprinkling of nice fashion bonnets in the audience would be a realistic touch.
Gentlemen: Frock coats or cutaway evening coats preferred. An acceptable alternative is a nicer sort of sack coat, in finer cloth. We need as many male civilians as we can get for this shoot. We can also use a limited number of gentlemen in Federal military
uniforms, but civilian impressions should predominate. At the time, there was apparently an edict requiring Federal military to get some sort of a special pass to appear in public in their uniforms.
Non-Reenactors: subject to available wardrobe, we can use you. Email me for guidelines on what you can bring to make our job easier. We'll all be seated, so our lower halves won't show as much, so we can "fudge" trowsers and shoes to some extent.
We DO have loaner gear available - but could use more as we have some non-reenactor historian types doing the shoot who will need wardrobing, as well as probably getting some reenactors who will need a bit of impression-tweaking. If you can supply loaner gear, you get an extra $5 for everybody you wardrobe.
If you have any questions, please email me
