  • Perryville Thank yous etc.

    Greetings all,

Because I had made such a big fuss regarding the event weeks before it and because I wanted to seperate the civilian experiences from the military (a mess I'd rather not post on has ensued in the other past events discussion), I'm going to start this thread with a fresh breath.

My Thanks to Mrs. Lawson and the WFS gang. I do hope to be able to attend more events with you all. I will e-mail you with my info Mrs. Lawson, right after this. Your warm welcomes and warm food helped make a great event for me.

A Thank You also to Beverly Simpson for her hard work and seemingly endless running around during the event. I'll also extend that Thank You to everyone else who set up the village and keep things running well.

Sitting on a bale Saturday night between some new found friends, sipping on srub (yea, just shrub . . . ) and yapping away amongst pipe and cigar smoke as the early minstrel show lingered in the background was a delight.

    All the Best Regards,

    Mutt,

We were MOST glad to have you with us. I'm especially grateful that you were a most accomodating "tavern layabout"--hoping to fill water containers and empty kettles as needed.

The bottle given for your kind labors should last a good long while--keep adding apple vinegar and shaking the bottle until the honey at the bottom is gone.

I'll be doing system maintenance on the Winston Free-State list serve next week and will send out your invitation at that time.

Given your geographic location, you'll also want to reference Doug Harding's Living History group out of St. Louis as well. Remind me to send you that group link.

If you did not previously join the Perryville Civilians, you'll want to monitor that list for the June 2007 "On the Farm" civilian-only event. Mrs. Simpson is planning a cabin raising as we add to the permanent buildings at the site.

Sound like way too much mail?--yep, for many folks, it is. Set your Yahoo profile for either "daily digest" to receive one large message each day with all postings, or set it for "read archives on the web", bookmark the sites, and skim them as you have time every few weeks.

We're glad to have you as a civilian--realize too that we often have men coming and going between civilian portrayals and military portrayals---its not a one-way street--simply another avenue that greatly expands your knowledge of the period.

Yassir, I used to be Mrs. Lawson. I still run period dyepots, knit stuff, and cause trouble.
