Greetings all,
I am currently working on organizing a militia muster at Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site and am looking for help in my research. Does anyone have any works they would reccomend that discuss the militia system on the frontier (preferably in Illinois) during the mid 1800s? I have already used Sugar Creek and some other general resources but am looking for more specific material. The setting for this event is going to be the summer of 1845, when there was trouble brewing with Mexico, the British up in Oregon, and the Mormons in western Illinois. Anyway, any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
