Re: Great tinted image of young girl - eBay
I'd put her in the 50s due to the hairstyle, and the sleeves that we don't see much of in the 60s. It's a great sleeve treatment, though, for pre-war things. A long, slim, bias-cut sleeve with two little frills set on the bicep area, using the "flounce on a cord" method to my eye. The dress is a great example of combining pleats and gathering in the same dress.Regards,

Mark Jaeger:
What is with the little girls in red dresses? When are you going to get back to work on publishing Osterrichische Infanterie - Feurgewehr, Wien, 1857 that you translated from German into English?Last edited by Craig L Barry; 05-22-2007, 10:31 AM.Craig L Barry

Re: Great tinted image of young girl - eBay
Luke, that's a decorative ribbon or embroidered "collar" piece worn around the neck and held in place with a brooch; you'll see it most often on pictures of women, but occasionally on children. Another common style of "collar" for children is the "tucker"--a narrow frill of lace or whitework set onto a narrow bias band, and basted inside the neckline of a dress.Regards,
