  • Ladies circles in Massachusetts...

My fiancé had sent an e-mail to the Ladies of the First Massachusetts last week, but to no avail. Being that she hasn't heard anything back as of yet, can anyone tell me of other known ladies circles in Massachusetts?

Any information would be appreciated on her behalf!

    Re: Ladies circles in Massachusetts...

    Hi Bryan,

Is your wife looking for a civilian group to join? Not sure if you were looking at the First Massachusetts Cavalry civilian group, but I used to be the leader of that group. The 1st Mass Cav. really doesn't exist anymore as a reenacting group - a few people still go out to things occassionally, but it isn't a formal group anymore. That said, several us that were members of the civilian side of the group still keep in touch and have an "informal" group.

There are really very few authentic civilian groups up here in New England. I am a member of AGSAS (Atlantic Guard Soldiers Aid Society) and do most of my reenacting down "south" with that group. Columbia's Daughters is probably the best actual civilian group up here and I can get you a contact for them if your wife is interested.

Although I travel elsewhere to do events, I do occassionally do a New England event. Sometimes a group of authentic-minded civilians will get together at one of the more mainstream events up here and do some first person and/or appropriate activity/scenario. I also have organized sewing workshops in MA and CT.

I am located in Torrington, CT, but many folks in my "circle" are from MA. If your wife has any questions, she can contact me at snowcraig@sbcglobal.net. I just had twins in May and that has drastically cut into the amount of time and energy I am devoting to reenacting these days. I am not out of the hobby by any means, but I won't be doing as much as I did in the past for several years.

    Take Care,

    Jessica
