    Re: Perryville on the Farm

Being horse people with civilian interests we are planning to come up and spectate this event.

Does anyone know if there will be Burgoo available for sale to the public ?

I have read about the "2x4" stew many times and hope to try it.

Is it feasible to expect to fit a day of viewing this amazing event and the battlefield @ the manic neurotic detail level in one weekend ?

    Thanks in advance.

      Chris,

You'll have to plan your day well--the land is straight up and down and the museum will take a bit too. You'll also want to allow some time for the Merchants Row area in downtown Perryville.

The Burgoo is being served after the park closing hours. Once again, as folks have said time and again---get registered, put on your period clothes, and Come On.......

Some folks will recall the Widows and Orphans Fund table which was set up at the WIG's Shaker Village event in Sept. of '06, and at Gettysburg this past Nov.

We'll have it set up at Life On The Farm.

        Hope to see everyone there.

          Mr. Peterson,

You will greatly missed. I was looking forward to seeing you again as well as your impression as the Sheriff.

Take good care of yourself and please come out and play with us as soon as possible.

            My dear Beverly,
Thank you, I shall think of ya'll often during the event time. We discovered a deep muscle infection yesterday, probably from some of the "matter" that was on the pants I was wearing, or the cleaning and rust inhibitive chemicals used on the revolver, so I actually lost ground yesterday. New medication is helping, but it reenforced my decision to lay low for a while!
            Ya'll have a great time!

You folks are so kind and supportive as always. It is just from respect of what these events represent and the other participants that I mind my lane.

One day I will get to where I need to be impression wise and you wont be able to hold me back.

If I could indulge one final question is Burgoo something that is served all
              about in restaurants locally ?

Here's a restaurant that sells Burgoo. It's in Owensboro, KY. and was recently featured on Tennessee Crossroads, a local tourism TV show on public TV. When I heard them talking about Burgoo, it caught my attention.

                  Trish-

Miss Marcie gives the burgoo high marks! I could not bring myself to try it but can attest to everything else on the menu. It's good enough to make a grieving girl forget all about the Dreamland BBQ she used to pine for all the time. :-)

Good folks on this side of the hobby.

I am looking forward to seeing the top tier civilian crowd as I have only spectat'd the military side.

I'm not traveling as directly as normal, so no box of ribs in my carryon this time. Milo's Sweet is a possibility though.

                      Need sauce?

                        Miz Terre-

I was able to purchase the Yankee-girl-living-far-far-away-from-Dreamland economy size jar of sauce when I was in Huntsville last fall. It only comes out of the fridge for the most important of BBQ-ing occasions! However, I will eagerly jump at the offer of Milo's Tea. I can bring an I.V. line and have it pumped into me on site as I've been Milos-anemic for quite some time now. Thanks a bunch!!!

Just had some Moonlite Burgoo yesterday. It's good, but I've had better (such as Old Hickory's).
