The Southern Guard LHA will garrison Fort Lincoln on the weekend of March 8, 2008, and will portray Co. F, 2nd New Hampshire Vols. We welcome Freedmen living historians to join us for this very unique living history.
For those not familiar with this State Park in Maryland, it was the site of one of the main Federal prison camps in the north. Approximately 50,000 Confederates were detained and thousands perished.
Fort Lincoln was re-discovered in the 1980's and restored by Mr. Robert Crickenberg and a very skillful group of volunteers. Five buildings were recreated, including barracks, guard house and officers' quarters (all heated by stoves) within the original earthen enclosure. Bob and his mess mates will be joining us.
The time period will be March 1864.
