  • note book for paper

Gentleman,, you have been extremely helpful in directing me towards the proper writing paper for my new impression..

As i said, i an going to portray a journalist this year and the gentelman from The Bohemian Brigade has been very helpful.

I am now looking for a proper style notebook to keep my loose writing papers in..

I know that this sounds very amatuer in my questions, but I an asking for help and i guess that there is no such thing as a dumb question.

    thank you in advance, Rich

If you got one near by, you may want to check out Barnes & Noble bookstore.

        Re: note book for paper

        Richard,
I just was reading my new issue of CW Historian and theirs a couple who specialize in CW period documents and expertise on historic printing. Also he's curator of 19th Century Print Shop at Cincinnati Museum Center. They may be a good source, his name is Tom and Bonnie Strassell and email is bstrassell@juno.com.
Let me know how it goes if you decide to pursue.

I saw quite a few notebooks in various manuscript & historical collections. They're usually constructed and shaped like period wallets (with that wavy edge and a tie), made from a soft leather, with rag content paper sewn in signatures into the center. Most of the ones I've seen were about 5 by 8 inches, some a little smaller & narrower (about 3 by 7, maybe.)

I never took any photos of them, so I don't have any images to share with you, but here are some repro wallet images that look very similar:

If you scroll down a bit, you'll see some notebooks. I haven't dealt with this supplier, so I can't say anything about the quality, but the photos do look very like notebooks I've seen in collections.
