  • "We're the boys for Mexico" Banjo Tab

I know it's not a Civil War song, but i also have a Mexican War impression aside from enjoying this song. If anyone has a banjo tab for this song, i'll be more than glad to pay you for a copy.

I can't find this tune in the Levy Sheet Music collection. Is it perhaps written on a familar minstrel melody, like so many Mexican War tunes were?

If the chorus of the song that you want is.............

"We're the boys for Mexico sing Yankee Doodle Dandy,
Gold and Silver images, plentiful and handy"

then the melody is "Yankee Doodle Dandy" . A tab for Yankee Doolde can be found on page #68 of Joeseph Wiedlich's book Minstrel Banjo - Briggs' Banjo Instructor by Centerstream Publishing.

If you need the lyrics for that one or a Mexican War version of "The Gal I Left Behind Me", e-mail me at crownby@cox.net Sorry, I don't have a tab for "The Gal I Left Behind me".
