Sir and Ma'am, I saw this photograph of the signal tower at Cobb's Hill, near New Market, Va. taken in 1864. Having read Roundshots thread "Unique Union Fort" with photograph taken from signal tower near Fort Fisher, I had to post this image. Got to wonder what the view was like up there. Here is the site, www.civil-war.net Roll to "photos database", click "Communications & Intelligence". The photo is #19.

Re: "signal tower on Cobb's Hill"
Sir and Ma'am, I don't yet have a handle on tying in material from other threads and posts so sorry for the leg work you may go through. Going back in the "Civil War Images" files, I came across a thread on page 9, "Hip-hop Yank". Post # 5 and #10 have information for consideration on this signal tower on Cobb's Hill, http://civilwarphotos.net (communications & intelligence image 19). Post #20 also has a description plus a link for the signal corps. http://www.civilwarhome.com/signalcorps.htm Gentlemen, hope you don't mind my clearing a path between Roundshot's thread and this to use your posts, thanks, Mel.Mel Hadden, Husband to Julia Marie, Maternal Great Granddaughter of
