I might offer a word or two of advice to help you along in your quest.

There are units, and then there are units, and then there are units.

Have you given any thought to what you see yourself doing and where you see yourself fitting in in terms of the types of interests and activities one can find in recreated units and messes?
Meaning, if you look at the so-called F/M/C/P/H/A Paradigm or model there are units dedicated to applications that are differing and different.

IMHO, being a recruit that is a good match for a unit AND finding a unit that one is a good match for as a recruit... can be a better way to go.
