Fort Dix Update

Gentlemen:
Rehearsal be in the early morning on May 5th at Fort Dix. At this time we do not have a definite time for said rehearsal.

Firing will take place during the rendering of the colors.

I have asked if they would like an infantry presence, if not we will definitely need people to help man the guns. If you are attending Neshaminy stop by the federal artillery as I will be teaching the drill that weekend, for those that wish to attend.

At this time we have commitments from Winslow's Battery and 1st NJ Light Artillery Battery B. This will give us five cannon, six would be real nice, as we have to fire 13 rounds 7 would be better.

Major Lee{USA} is going to see if he can get some funds to help with gas. If they can't and it means the difference of bringing a cannon or staying home, The Sixth NY will help fill your tanks.

In closing let me say I am grateful for the outpouring of support I have received from everyone.
This is a splendid opportunity to show the boys in blue {Yes, the dress uniforms are going back to blue} how much we care.

Jeff, Your piece being drawn by horses at Clinton this past weekend looked great! That gray horse was giving you a little fight at the beginning,hope all is well. Bud Scully 13th NJ

Did you mean my flying thru the air with the greatest of ease?
Upon hitting the ground I remembered the all important two words, roll away.
You could say the only thing hurt was my self-esteem, how ever "I did get back up on the horse"
It was Kate's {The horse} first time around cannon and musket fire. Our wranglers told me that all the horses were feeling feisty as they had not worked in a while and were pardon the pun, feeling their oats.
