  • Battle of Williamsburg- Help Needed

AC Community- Finally after years of battling for the preservation of Williamsburg battlefield we are making some headway. At least discussions between property owners and our newly created Williamsburg Battlefield Trust are happening. In the interim the WBT is creating a website. It is going to be dedicated to telling the story and helping folks find Civil War sites in and around Williamsburg. Thus we need your help. We are trying to police up, articles, stories, ancedotes, photos, artifacts- anything help in private or public hands which we could put up on our website. Obviously the lenders will receive credit. We are promising an APP and Google Map which will allow folks to tour the field and town, the end all be all list and population of Civil War Williamsburg related links and documentation. Please do not hesitate to contact me with something you have or an item in a collection somewhere- yes we have googled a ton so we are familiar with MOST digitally available items. Here is the BETA website. Thanks http://www.williamsburgbattlefieldtrust.org

Maybe you have seen this, or even contributed to it.

We are a premier public research university, widely recognized for our outstanding academic reputation, beautiful campus and vibrant community. We produce experienced, engaged and successful graduates who lead lives of impact.

I also recall Robert Knox Sneden sketching Williamsburg and environs as part of his book Eye Of The Storm and Images From The Storm where the College of William and Mary was used as a hospital.

Some photos taken at Bruton Parish. Yes, they are modern ferrotypes, but it was an interesting accompaniment to the article, the original of which was longer than in the PDF link.

        Ivan,
Thanks for your replies. Those pictures are part of the driving force behind the WBT. Sneden's images are held in a variety of repositories which we are seeking permissions with. Thanks again- keep the info coming!
